Get Involved...and Make a Difference...

Incredible but true...

A 90-Year-Old and Two Clergymen Cited, Face Possible Jail Time, for Feeding the Homeless in Fort Lauderdale

Arnold Abbott was in the park yesterday…feeding the homeless…
And then the police arrived…
The officer said: “Drop that plate right now…”
Arnold got confused… later he told …”as if I had a weapon…”
Arnold and two pastors in Fort Lauderdale, Florida were charged for feeding the homeless in public…
The police were acting on a city by-law banning public food sharing… This was city’s first crackdown upholding the by-law…

"You are under arrest..." because you are sharing food with others in the public...and just like that he was cited and arrested... He will face jail term... and Arnold Abbott is 90 years old...
They told him he is NOT allowed to feed the hungry...
They told him he is not allowed to feed the homeless...
They said...IT IS THE LAW...
He said...There are hungry people in the park..in Fort Lauderdale... in America...
But,
the city by-law prohibits feeding people in the public...
The city wants to get rid of the homeless...
They want them outside city limits...
They even passed a by-law whereby one is not allowed to many belongings in the public...They will be confiscated...The owner will be arrested...
Imagine...arresting a homeless...because he/she is homeless...
Arnold Abbott...has a good heart...He wants to help...He wants to feed...the hungry and the homeless... He wants the homeless to feel welcomed...After all he say...they are God's children...

Arnold Abbott told...
"I'm not afraid of jail. I'm not looking to go, but if I have to, I will," he said.

On Wednesday, Abbott said he'll be at Fort Lauderdale Beach, ready to serve another meal.
Arnold Abbott Named Winner of the 2013 For Good Awards $50,000 awarded to three retirees making a difference...
Remember...YOU can make a difference too...

Arnold Abbot
Why the city will have a stupid by-law...?
Why they will arrest the 90-years-old GOOD man...?
In the city of London, England...there are sidewalks which have spikes so as the homeless will not sleep there...
But Fort Lauderdale, Florida...Surpassed all...
Now there is a LAW... which will arrest people if they feed the homeless...in the public...
They will arrest the homeless...if they have above the limit belongings on the street or in the park...
What a farce...!
What a shame...!
and
This is America... pretending that they will export "democracy" to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan...
***
The elections are over... Florida has a NEW governor... Will he attempt to change this policy... I don't think so...
The vote changed the people in the Congress...and in the Senate... The majority is with the other party...and Obama needs to negotiate with the others...
They say... the foreign policy of the U.S. will be much more hostile to ALL those who oppose their hegemony...
They say... the wars will escalate...and the Middle East and Ukraine will be in more turmoil...
But meanwhile...the GOOD Samaritans at home will have hard time too...
No one will bother to change the by-law in Fort Lauderdale... and at the end of the day... The by-law will stay on the books...
You will not be allowed to feed the homeless...in the public...

Read the words of the Mayor...

"I'm not satisfied with having a cycle of homeless in the city of Fort Lauderdale," Seiler-the mayor, said. "Providing them with a meal and keeping them in that cycle on the street is not productive."

There are laws that do not make sense... So these laws should be challenged...
There are laws that need to be changed...So get involved... be inspired bt the students and youth of Hong Kong... Challenge the norms like the youth in Ferguson...
The elections change faces only... They do not change the system...
Elections change the power balance within the 1%... The Big Brother arrogance and neglect of the 99% persists... stays the same...
Get involved...
Be inspired by Arnold Abbott...
And challenge the stupidity of Big Brother laws...
Get involved...and feed the homeless an feed the hungry...
ACT... and make a difference...
