policy…whereby the “doctors’ visit rural-poor areas and sterilize women for a
fee… The government pays the poorer women to be sterilized…

The killed and injured were
among 80 women who had come to a “camp” set up by the government to be
sterilized…

Each woman was paid 1400
rupees…about 23 U.S. dollars…

Human Rights Watch has
condemned sterilization drives… They say women are paid and coerced too to
undergo surgery often in unsanitary conditions in makeshift clinics…
An Indian
surgeon used infected instruments to sterilize 83 women in about six hours,
according to a local medical official, leaving 10 of them dead and another 69
hospitalized in the central state of Chhattisgarh.

Item 2... The Inspector's Report: No sign of investigation in 1,111 New Orleans sex crime-related calls…
· The report is full of grating details… In one case a two-year-old is brought to hospital emergency after alleged sexual assault… and the tests revealed that the toddler had sexually transmitted disease … But the detectives dismissed the case and did not follow it up…
· The detective wrote… that the two-year-old toddler “did not disclose any information that would warrant a criminal investigation and closed the case”…
Disgusting…to say the least…!!!!!!!!!
· The report identifies 1,290 sex-crime related calls , but the five detectives to whom the cases were assigned … followed up only 179 of them… That’s only 13.9%...
Shameful male adult behaviour…
Why will they not inspect and follow up...? Are not police supposed "to serve and protect..."?
Why not serve and protect the more vulnerable...
