Getting ready to a one-hour-longer weekend...
 

The chaplain at my last school greeted us in the mornings over the PA system…and every Halloween he told the school community… That ALL of you are SAINTS… LOOK around and you will see MANY LIVING SAINTS among you…

I agree with him… Just look around and indeed you will see the saints…

Again Academic Controversy...
It is happening more and more... Students are becoming more intolerant to diverse opinions...
When I was attending university...We struggled to have our views out... The Soviet Union and Western States did not allow free flow of ideas... The state...the Big Brothers and apparatchiks had their unique mind control mechanism... McCarthyism of course was different than Stalinism... But they strove to control the youth... It was suffocating...in universities...
Now more and more "political correctness" is creeping on the campuses... Speakers are being banned... and threatened... and declared persona non grata...
When I was growing up Berkeley had international fame and the students were at the forefront of the anti-war movement... and when I first visited Los Angeles... Because of what I had heard from afar... I wanted to visit Watts, the African American ghetto which was famous for the Black Panthers... But my friends were very cautious and apprehensive...No one dared to take me their... 

Eventually I visited the Watts Towers... 

and 

Watts reminded me of a Third World shanty town... 

In the midst of Los Angeles glitters...

Also I wanted to visit Berkeley campus, the citadel for truth and love, the campus that wanted to ban wars... My friends told me it was too far...
And now...

Berkeley students are attempting to stifle free speech and debate... because of "political correctness"...

(CNN) -- The controversy over having TV host Bill Maher speak at the University of California Berkeley has taken another turn. Well, make that two.

If you remember, the outspoken comedian was selected as the school's 2014 fall commencement speaker, until students incensed by his anti-religious comments -- particularly his views on Islam -- started a petition to have him removed.

Students protest to ban Maher speech

On Tuesday night, the student group that's tasked with selecting commencement speakers met and voted to withdraw Maher's invitation.

That would have been the end of the matter except the very next day, the college said it won't honor the vote.

"This university has not in the past and will not in the future shy away from hosting speakers who some deem provocative," the school said.

The disinvitation

The student group is called The Californians. It's a committee of undergrads whose role is to come up with graduation speakers.

In August, the Californians selected Maher. 

On Tuesday, it decided to unselect him.

Free speech and diversity of ideas are crucial for critical thinking...If students want just to hear whatever pleases them...then they are not critical thinkers and they are on the campus just to promote their self interests...
They want to become just like the society which beget them... They want to emulate the Big Brothers and are afraid of diversity and truth and change...
I don't particularly appreciate Bill Maher... His style of deliverance is alien to me... But I will defend his right to speak and express his thoughts... Apparently... the students were happy when he made "fun" of others... But now are offended because he is making "fun" of something that they like... !
Bill Maher... expressed that Islamic Jihadists are dangerous and their version of Islamic thought barbaric and toxic... and if the "moderate" and "peace loving" Islams are not rejecting it actively, then they are just agreeing with the Jihadists who are beheading journalists and who are raping women and selling them as sex-slaves and massacring males who oppose them...
Bill Maher argued that if they are not condemning then by keeping quiet and silent they are condoning it...
THERE IS TRUTH in his claim...
Banning him from Berkeley campus will NOT CHANGE the facts... and will not alter the truth...
This is "political correctness" which is becoming to Stalinists and McCarthyism ...   
Students should have open minds and advocate critical thought... not conformism...

TERROR THREAT AGAINST FEMINIST ANITA SARKEESIAN AT Utah State University...


LOGAN -- Utah State University plans to move forward with an event featuring a prominent Canadian-American author, blogger and feminist, despite threats of terror, a spokesman said Tuesday evening.
The decision came after several staff members received an anonymous email terror threat on Tuesday morning from someone claiming to be a student proposing "the deadliest school shooting in American history"
if it didn't cancel the Wednesday lecture.
The email author wrote that "feminists have ruined my life and I will have my revenge, for my sake and the sake of all the others they've wronged."

Students who have failed for whatever reasons… Blame others for their failures… it is happening much to often…

Parents have attacked me because their sons-daughters did not get a HIGH MARK… They defended the kids instead of telling them to study more…

In Montreal, Canada a Mark Lepine invaded Ecole Polytechnique and opened fire on women engineering students… He said the women have taken his space and because of them he was not accepted to engineering…

Check the arguments of this Mark Lepine and the anonymous e-mailer from the Utah State University...

Deranged stupidity on campuses... and unfortunately these are instigated by the students and not by Big brothers...

It was a “declaration of war,” according to a Palestinian leader.

Yesterday Israeli authorities denied access to a sacred site in Jerusalem, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as Temple Mount, amid clashes in East Jerusalem.

The area was closed after a counter-terrorism unit killed a Palestinian who was suspected of shooting prominent Jewish activist Yehuda Glick.

Israel has reopened the site, but tensions remain high.
