Thanksgiving...Nobel Prizes...and Police Protection...

North America Has Two Thanksgiving Days...
Canadians will celebrate Thanksgiving on Monday, Oct. 13...
Students always were curious to know which day I celebrated Christmas... and My answer was on ALL the occasions...
I celebrated Christmas on Dec. 25... and then I celebrated the Armenian Christmas on Jan. 6th and then I celebrated a third time on Jan. 7th with my Ukrainian and Russian friends...
It is fun and it indeed extends the festivities over the twelve days of Christmas...
It is the same with Thanksgiving...
I will celebrate Thanksgiving with my Canadian friends coming Monday... and will be happy for all the GOOD things that happened to me and my family...over the past year...
I got retired from the four-wall-confined-teaching...That's indeed a blessing to be thankful for...and I am with my family now...and that's essential for my well-being...
Also, I will celebrate Thanksgiving in November with my American friends...and will be thankful for ALL the GOOD things in the Global Village... and will hope for a better year to come...
We are blessed in North America...with a more tolerant democracy... and we are provided with all the basics for happiness... food, shelter and cultured communities...
And we should be thankful everyday of the year...Thankful to each other for everything around and in us...
So I will begin celebrating today... till November... After all, I am retired and have to cerebrate the GOOD things in life...

Microscope work wins Nobel Prize in Chemistry...

The 2014 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to a trio of researchers for improving the resolution of optical microscopes.
Eric Betzig, Stefan Hell and William Moerner used fluorescence to extend the limits of the light microscope.
Two Americans and a German won the Nobel Prize in chemistry this year for their work on optical microscopy that has opened up our understanding of molecules by allowing us to see how they work close up.

Their advance enabled scientists to visualise the activity of individual molecules inside living cells.
"Going down to the resolution limit, where you can see proteins interacting, DNA unfolding - if you go down to that level and you can watch this in live cells, that's such a leap forward. You almost don't need biochemistry anymore! Biochemistry is more abstract, because you have solutions and tubes and you deduce what is happening from that."

This year's chemistry laureates used fluorescent molecules to circumvent this limitation, allowing scientists to see things at much higher levels of resolution.

·         The police are there to "serve and protect"... But recently things are going wrong and police are acting in a way that is unbecoming to their calling...
The police forces are acting as if they are not part of our social fabric and they are brutalizing communities from city to the other city...
Check out the two incidents that happened in North America...

    In Mexico....

At least 51 bodies found in mass graves in Mexico...

A clandestine grave on the outskirts of a Mexican city where police clashed with student protesters a week ago contained at least 51 bodies too damaged for immediate identification, state officials said.

The badly burned remains of at least 51 people have been found in mass graves according to authorities in southern Mexico searching for students missing since clashing with police in September.
The bodies were covered in petrol and burned before they were buried, Guerrero state attorney general Iñaky Blanco Cabrera told reporters on Sunday, and it could take between two weeks and two months to identify them.

These are NOT Islamic-Jihadists...They are Mexican soldiers guarding the mass graves....
Students and relatives of the missing protest...
The town people - friends and relatives and all the community,  protesting the disappearance of the students....
The police allied themselves with drug traffickers and attacked the innocent people of the town...

...And in the U.S. of America...

Hammond police sued over use of Taser during traffic stop

Shocking: Jamal Jones is pictured (left) being asked to exit his girlfriend, Lisa Mahone's car after she was pulled over for not wearing a seat-belt. When he refused, another officer smashed the car window (right)
The police smashing the window of the car and tasering the passengers...
This should not happen in North America...
A simple traffic violation should not escalate into window-smashing police incidents...
After all, the police are there to "SERVE AND PROTECT" not only the rich and powerful Big Brothers-Sisters... They are there to protect society...
I believe in LAW and ORDER... and I believe in PEACE too...
