A Dialogue with a Student-friend about Ross and the rest...

A former student and now a friend emailed the following and raised few points that I will clarify once the reader acquainted with the contend of the email...

Hello Sir,

I spent some time catching up with your blog this morning and thought I would share my thoughts with you.

The first is a suggestion for a blog post if you're willing to share this information. Something I always ask myself when reading your post about Mr. Oakes is how did you 2 even get so close to begin with? We read all these stories of the great times that you 2 had together but I don't remember ever reading about how or why you met, outside of school of course. In every romantic novel or movie, the introduction of the 2 people is always at the beginning. Hopefully you understand that by me saying romantic, in this case I am referring to the loving friendship that you 2 had. Nowadays, it's not really socially acceptable to say that you love a friend as it will automatically be misconstrued as being in more than just a friendship.

People hug because their are friends... They express their love with that hug and love has different components within itself... Sexual love is just one aspect of it... And love does not necessarily mean sex... Spiritual love... friendly love... We say; "I love your company"... and imply just friendship and no sex...
Jesus loves us... No sex implied... God loves us... and no sex implied...
Image result for photos of friends huggingImage result for photos of male friends hugging
People love each other for different reasons... and love does not mean sex...
I am married and Ross is just a dear friend... and I miss his friendship... One of the main reasons for that is... HE WAS NOT JUDGMENTAL... He did not read between the lines... He just said; "You are allowed..." and that was the end of that ...
People miss their kids... I do mine too... People love their kids... I do mine too...
Siblings love each other... and families love each other...
I hope the world will learn to love again... and stop sexual innuendos and funny stuff...
I loved my students... I appreciated my time with them... We learned together and each group was learning in a different way... and we had fun and we created a loving atmosphere... The classroom was a refuge for me... and I noticed that our classroom was a refuge to the students too...
We loved each other...
But at times the elders were brutal... At times the teachers were not-loving... and that pained me... I did not want to gossip about what happened... and I could not hold it within me... So at me spare time I visited the chapel... and sat their my myself... Besides my classroom, the chapel was the most inviting place... It was peaceful and quiet... I could breath the peace and calm my nerves... I could feed the loving eternity... I could embrace the love of humanity again...
And I sat their for few minutes... for half an hour... at times for an hour...
Ross had the habit of playing classical music in the chapel... Later he learned to play Gregorian Chants and cantatas too... and I appreciated his sensitivities... He sensed that I want to be by myself... and did not disturb me... Left my alone... And that alone-ness was beautifully enchanting... It was spiritually uplifting and intellectually loving...
One day Ross noticed that when I leave the chapel I walk backwards so as not to turn my back to the alter... that is Armenian custom... Expressing respect to the inexplicable in us and above us and around us... He jumped on the opportunity and asked about it... I explained... and that was it...
That was how we met... and noticed each other... We became friends... and we had good times with each other...
A friend emailed me the other day that Ross was worried about me driving alone at night... after we had few drinks... But as I mentioned before, I took the right lane and drove carefully and slowly... Never got a ticket for drunk driving... But Ross always worried about me... He realized that at times I am to rash, and at times too uncompromising for my own good...
He said I can never be a diplomat... He insisted that I will never learn how to dilute my beliefs and compromise on my rights... That's why he was overly protective at times... He thought that I will never learn how to protect myself...

A second point, regarding the little library box in front of the house. I have never seen that anywhere in Canada. For some reason, nobody is as trusting of their neighbours and is always scared something will be stolen. A good example of that is how kids are over protected in Canada. You can't simply let your young kids go outside alone anymore because of the fear that something will happen to them. Here in Europe, I see the complete opposite. You see kids as young as 5 or 6 walking or taking public transit to school alone or with a friend. It is the social norm here for kids to come home from school, do their homework and head straight to the park or surrounding streets to play with their friends. As popular as video games may be, playing a sport outside with friends is infinitely more enjoyable for them and so rain or shine, the kids are always outside. A further example is that library box. Here in Europe, I see much bigger boxes in parks close to playgrounds with a hundred books or more. The simple policy is to take a book, you have to leave a book and that way everybody is sharing and learning together. It's refreshing to see that level of trust being reciprocated at such a large scale, although it is noticeably less now with all the terrorist acts happening in Europe.

Dear friend-student...
Those photos are not from Canada... My daughter took the pictures in Los Angeles...
Sharing is wonderful...
Once I was driving and made a right turn abruptly... almost cutting the other vehicle... The police stopped me... they were just there and I had not noticed them... He said; "I realize it is snowing and it is slippery... But please share the road..." That stuck with me forever... To be honest I was at fault... But if he had ticketed me, I would have learned nothing...maybe I would have been bitter too... But that day I learned something and sharing the road was only part of it... Sharing my blessing with others was the essential message from the Police...

That was a loving gesture... I always remember that incident lovingly... I love that policeman, wherever he may be now...

**Just to note, I will try to make this last part as politically correct as possible so as not offend you or anyone else that may read my reply to you. **

My last point is regarding the recent news that Dolce and Gabbana is the first luxury brand to start an Arabic/Islamic line of clothing. I personally find it pathetic and agree with you that greed is what motivated these actions. I would like to add however that, more than greed, I feel as though this is desperation on their part. The company as a whole is not doing so well and so is kind of like their "Hail Mary" play, so to speak. With more and more luxury brands entering the market, their previous dominance has dwindled and so this is affecting their bottom line. What makes it more obvious that this is a desperation play is the timing of the release. With all of the recent terrorist events all over the world, the world has somewhat blacklisted Arabic/Islamic culture and so by D&G going after that culture, they are somewhat turning their backs on the rest of the world and hoping that that single market will solve all of their problems. It may at the beginning but long term, I think it will end up hurting the company. What I find particularly pathetic is that as far as I knew, the abaya and hijab that they are now designing is supposed to be religious clothing. I personally think that whomever decides that they are better than the whole religion, want to flaunt their wealth, and wear designer RELIGIOUS clothing is not in fact a true believer or practicing religious person. Just as an example, how stupid would it look if priests now wanted to wear Versace or Hugo Boss robes? That's completely unthinkable and out of the question. I can understand having religious clothing custom made, even with higher quality fabric, to fit better or be more comfortable but commercializing it and turning on your traditions is just a complete joke in my opinion.
There have been numerous other companies to sell their souls for Arabic money so they're definitely not the first company to do so, just arguably the most pathetic. Another example that closer to home for me is to do with Real Madrid, my favourite team. Since 1931, the club crest hasn't changed and has had a small cross on the top of it. A year ago, due to a new sponsor (National Bank of Abu Dhabi), they have now removed that cross so as not to offend Muslim sensibilities in that region. That's again pathetic in my opinion to turn your back on a century of history just for some money.

Real Madrid drop Christian cross from club crest in middle east...
Florentino Perez,

Real Madrid have removed the traditional Christian cross from their official club crest after signing a lucrative three-year deal with the National Bank of Abu Dhabi...

This is in my opinion a big problem in the Arabic states in that they think that they're entitled to whatever they want just because of their oil money. Another example is that for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, any woman visiting the country will have to respect their religion and cover their hair. This is a current rule in the region and I find it unfair to force your religion on somebody. Nobody else in the world does that but they feel entitled to do so. Eventually the oil or the demand for it will run out. What will happen then?
***
Your sentiments are mine...
For few years Atletico Madrid advertised the Azeri land and government...
Azerbaijan is a dictatorship and people are being arrested for just criticizing the government... and why a respected football club succumb to the monies if dictators... pained me... They had pogroms in Azerbaijan and burned and beheaded and killed thousands of Armenians... Just because they were Armenian and Christian...
Whenever I was watching a match where Atletico Mardid was playing, I wanted them to lose... I wanted them to be defeated with a big margin...
I agree with you...
Materialism and greed have taken over spirituality and sharing... Human values have succumbed to "the devil wears Prada" syndrome... Human values are giving way to the the glitter and absurdity of material...
And I do not have much energy to fight it any more... May be it is your turn now...
***
Last note, "They bring me books and books... At times I want to yell at them... I have a life too... bring me booze too...". That was by far my favourite quote so far and really made me laugh so thanks for sharing that.

Take care and enjoy,
F..............

It is not only Dolce & Gabbana... Materialism is all around us...
I remember these shoes...
They wrote about them at the time... They talked about them at the time...
And my question always has been... By leaders have to succumb to the vanity of the material... and they do it once and once again...
The spiritual leaders succumb to its glitter...
The politicians are corrupted by its power...

Ross and Theater... Also other things...

Ross... A Free Spirit
It did not take much to make Ross happy...
He loved to visit downtown... The downtown core excited him like a kid enjoying a new way of playing with an old toy... We had happy hour drinks for an our or two... We had dinner and then we attended a play or a concert... We loved to listen to choral music and Messiah for Christmas and Saint John Passion at Easter were regulars for us...
But this particular day we were attending St. Lawrence for a play about the expulsion of Acadians to Boston and their return...
We had many good times in the Theater District...
We went to a bar... Had our happy hour drinks... two drinks each... Chatted... Ross was a good talker... He shared the hot news-gossips of the day... about the Principal... about the teacher... Fished for my troubles in the Math Department... I was the Head of the department and wanted to help, at times just prey the gossip... Ross had lots of information about lots of things... Most of them useless...
Ross was protective too... At one time I had a conflict with another Department Head... The guy was obnoxious and while we were attempting to sort out the issues in the vice-Principal's office... This other Department Head started to swear at me... Everything colourful... Mother fucker and all the rest... He knew quite a few... this swearing session lasted for fifteen minutes... The VP was silent... and I was stunned... When he left, I asked the VP not to report the incident to the Principal... But I was out of luck... No one wants to rock the boat... Bt no one wants to have headache too... The VP dumped the issue in the Principal's lap... They always do...
I guess the other teacher was trying to imitate Ricky Gervai...

Because of this incident, Ross was very protective of me...and on every occasion wanted the latest from the Math Department... But I did not have much to report... Math teachers are a boring breed... and there was not much excitement in my department...
The drinks were good and I am a very good listener... and Ross likes to talk... We had dinner too... and couple of glasses of wine... I always drink red, but Ross alternates depending on his mood...
The play was very good... It had to be very good because otherwise I will dose away... The topic was interesting and close to my heart... The epic exile of the Acadians reminded me of the deportations of the Armenians a century ago... The walk from Nova Scotia to Boston is quite a distance... and it was played on the stage skillfully... The audience got engaged both in the misery and in the long walk... At one point en elderly women advised a younger boy to begin the walk with the left foot... "Start with the left... for good luck," she said... "Start with the left..." amused Ross and it stayed with him...
After the play hitting the street Ross was playful... Little Rossie had bubbled up and  He joked, "Always with the left..." and jumped on the street from the sidewalk... Just then a car buzzed passed him... He almost lost his balance... I had to help him out...
Ross stumbled right where the bicycles are... though he started with his left foot...

The incident stayed with us... and we always joked... "Start with the left..." Others did not know what we were referring to... But every now and then one of us was tipsy enough to stumble for the other to refer to the left foot...
Ross was fun and attending theater with him added another dimension to my enjoyment...
***
...And Something Else...

My daughter noticed a small library in front of a house... He called me back from our walk and wanted me to see it... She realized that it will interest me...
Indeed it was wonderful... A family offering books in front of their house...
Wonderfully human... Great idea... Sharing with others...
Little Free Library
I indeed love people when they share...

Share your books... Share your love... Create harmony...
and understanding...
Promote PEACE on Earth...

Rossie and the kid... And Also...

Rossie and the Kid

We did not need special occasions to celebrate... When we had time and felt like it we visited Canyon Creek... It was always fun.
But celebrations and get together events were extra special...
Ross,
I am sure you remember the time when we were having our Christmas dinner together... We had quite a few drinks and were is exceptionally jovial mood... Of course being together was in itself a high, but the drinks always helped... Just behind you there was a young couple with their 4-5 year old kid...
The kid was very lively... His eyes were sparkling like the stars in the heavens... They were full of mischievous sparkles...

I started toying with the kid from a distance... You noticed my attention and looked behind you... That was it... There was no stopping you... Your loud giggle and childish gibberish with the kid attracted the attention of his parents and the rest of the tables... The rest of the dinner was filled with wonderful wine and Rossie and the kid...
You were wonderful and playful and above all loud... You were a kid with the kid... There was no trace of the grown up Chaplain... and your eyes matched the heavenly sparkle of the kid... I could not hold your attention any more... You were siting with me, but you had a new partner... Rossie and the kid... It was amazing and amusing... I could not wish for a better Christmas celebration... kid's parents were being entertained too... and they were happy that they were having a good time with each other while their son was being babysitted by you... Your only regret was that the kid was indeed a kid and could not have wine with you... The rest was just a match... Rossie and the kid...
When the couple was ready to leave you chatted with them and praised the sparkles of the kid... and mischievous Rossie asked their permission to hug the kid... The parents did not mind... You hugged the kid and wished Merry Christmas...
I just hugged him... and then I hugged Rossie...

That was a wonderful Christmas treat... deserving after dinner brandy... and we had couple... It was Christmas after all... and we were happy and joyful... and just like kids...
The happy evening was with you the next day and you could not stop bragging about it all day...
You were fun and I enjoyed our times together...

 ... And also
I remember the times when hippies were on the margins of society... The mainstream society, the establishment despised them and wrote all kinds of disgusting articles about them and their drug habits and vulgar language and their way of life; their bell bottoms and colourful dressing... at times their unabashed nakedness and sexual etiquette... and free love...

The hippies loved J. R. Tolkien and his books were revered...
But the revulsion and criticism of the establishment did not last long...
   1006249
But,
The greed of the establishment knows no bounds and the greed guided the profit motive and the imagination of the establishment opened up and incorporated the marginalized hippies in the mainstream and the fashion industry incorporated their way of cloths and living into the mainstream...
Colourful dresses and bell bottoms became the mode... and the hippies became part of the profit greed of the establishment...

History repeating itself...
The Islamic attire which is criticized by the West and despised by Western culture... encountered a "new"  attitude...
...And now...
The fashion industry opened up to the Islamic dress code... Dolce and Gabbana  introduced a new fashion line...
Where there is money... where there is profit Western Materialism follows... and it looks like the West sees an opening for more profit... After plundering the oil of the Middle East; after creating turmoil and war in the name of "Western Democracy" and "Arab Spring"... Western Civilization is going after the Islamic Culture...

Greed and profit always find their way and go after the jugular of cultures...

After all, the profit motive of Western society does not recognize any limits... and boundaries... It is based on the premise of GREED WITHOUT BORDERS...

My friend Ross... and other things...

Ross, 3rd from left... and I with the "red" cap... Caroling with my students...

Canyon Creek was a good and friendly sanctuary... away from students and avoiding crowds... has a bar and also a restaurant on the other side... We had drinks in the bar and times we just hang out and had a bite in the bar... on festive occasions we went and relaxed in the restaurant and ate, drank and laughed...
Thant's what we did when I was retiring... It was you and the French teacher and I... It was wonderfully stimulating... and to be honest, we drank a "lot"... and I drove you home... we hugged and you went inside... I waited for you to disappear... a bit emotional... and a bit tipsy... and I drove home... to avoid police... drove from the right lane... slowly... and carefully...
That was the last time I saw you...
But I remember the first time we went for a drink at Canyon Creek... You expressed your frustration about "gifts" that you receive... "They bring me books and books... At times I want to yell at them... I have a life too... bring me booze too..."

You told about the time that a student, serving  at the bar got scandalized seeing you ordering a drink... Manhattan was it...? And you chuckled aloud... people turned their head to see what was funny... But they were frustrated... They could not see within you... They could not notice the Rossie popping up his head... You told to the student that you are the Chaplain at the school, but you are a human being too... and human beings eat and drink too...

You liked to take the lead and order for us...
"The usual...," you asked... and I nodded to it...
"A Manhattan for me and a double vodka for my friend..." and  you got a kick instructing the bartender with the rest... "Just one ice cube and double vodka... make sure it is Absolute... and orange juice in a separate glass... on the side..." and here the smile illuminated your face... "Please do not 'contaminate' the vodka...," you added and chuckled for all to hear... people in the bar heard you and smiled... the bartender got amused too...
We waited for the drinks... You were absolutely proud for your expertise... and I was pleased that Rossie had bubbled up...
It was fun...

I remember the first time you asked; "anything mixed with the vodka..." and I said, "No, no... just one ice cube... do not contaminate the vodka..."
You were very amused with my remark... and that's how we were together... We let it loose and we let it go... oblivious of the people and the world around us...
But the next day, early in the morning, many in school greeted me with... "do not contaminate the vodka..."
You always wanted to share your adventurous Rossie with others... and that was okay with me...
We had fun... in the Chapel... in the bar... on the streets of the city... and I miss all of that... and I miss you too...
...And I will write soon...

Ross, A Beautiful Soul

Ross,
I always wanted to write to you... but now that you are gone I am writing this to ALL- the public, and hopefully you will read it from above or from below... where ever you are now...

They say people gone forever are able to see everything...When we met 25 years ago I did not know what to make of you... You were a grown up adult, but the kid, Rossie as you called it, was radiant in everything that you did...

You were a mathematician, but without the numbers...         You were a philosopher, but without the words... and,           You were a theologian, but definitely without the dogma...    Sum these up...                                                                           You get a BEAUTIFUL human being... a genuine Rossie...         And, I miss you...

Your loud chuckle was a treat... and when you said; "You are allowed..." it was your humaneness bubbling up to the surface and tickling the universe...
We had fun together when we were away from the teens of the school... Both of us liked them... We were energized by there carefree vigor, but then we needed "away time" from the youthful shallowness... We wanted away time to have time for a drink to untangle the absurdity of teaching; to attend a play and submerge in a temporal intellectual activity; to be enchanted by  the melodies of the great and listen to the musical  harmony in and above us; and above all roam the streets like liberated vagabonds taking in the sounds and sights of the street...
You loved the downtown and the hustle and bustle of the crowd... The downtown crowd triggered the Rossie within you and Rossie was fun; Rossie was an intellectually and spiritually liberated Ross... Of course the glass or two within you made Rossie bubbly too... and your enormously loud chuckle was definitely noticed by the passers by... and they were amused too...
Next I'll write about our favourite bar... The Canyon Creek... We had good times in there... good drinks and food and laughs... But that's for tomorrow...

And also,

I want to say this and take it off my chest... Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, is right...
New Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudaau, got it right when he appointed a gender-neutral Cabinet. A self-proclaimed feminist, he picked a team of 15 men and 15 women "because it's 2015."
But Trudeau's enlightened way of thinking is still a rarity.
And just to extend the Canadian experience to the south of the border... Listening to the noise of the presidential candidates... I conclude that ALL of them are the same... with MINOR nuances... But id I am to vote... I will not hesitate to choose Hilary Clinton... Just because she is a women... There is the possibility that she will do things differently... Angela Merkel is doing it...better than the boys, and so why not she...?

Armenian Churches... are ruined and abandoned in Turkey...
Hello,
I'm glad to see you found the motivation to write so quickly.

I agree that loneliness isn't healthy but some "me time" is vital to staying true to yourself. It allows you to refocus on what's important, reflect on what you've done right and what you've done wrong, and most importantly, how to improve.

What is complicated topic is religion and I know enough people who live with religious values but don't practice any religion for some reason. I am a practicing Catholic and I enjoy going to church even though it is sad what I see when I go there. It's sad to see that in our Croatian church, there are very few youth, maybe 1-2% of the church with very few young families. The big majority, about 80% are seniors and it's just sad to see. Within the next decade or two, our church will no longer have enough people coming to cover their costs and will have to close down. This is a church built and paid for by the first Croatians who came decades ago who put their blood, sweat and tears into building a church for the Croatian community and those who's family built it all those decades ago can be seen crying at the sad state of not only our church, but youth and religion altogether. When there is a concert by a Croatian singer, they can pack a theatre or hall with 3000+ youth from 15-30 in hours but of those, maybe only 50 will go to church on the weekend. I like going to church because it gives me something to believe in and a set of rules/virtues to live by. More than that, every mass is an opportunity to just completely let go of everything bad that happened in the past week and start a new page. In the end, it's nice to start fresh even though it may be hard to let go of certain things.

What I disagree with however is your suggestion that Christmas should be celebrated year-round. Christmas is one of the 2 biggest days on the Catholic calendar, and arguably the most important day of the year all around for most people. It's supposed to be special and you shouldn't overdo it. What really angers me is the social/economical aspect of Christmas and any holidays in general. As soon as thanksgiving passes, every commercial and advertisement is about Christmas and that's just disgraceful. Christmas has lost its true meaning for the majority of people and that's wrong. It was brought up by our priest in my youth group when somebody asked if we can sing a Christmas song a week before Christmas. He simply replied "Do you say happy birthday to your friend before his/her actual birthday? No, you don't and that's why you shouldn't celebrate Christ's birthday before the actual day either." And it's true and makes sense to me. Christmas should only be celebrated from the 25th onwards, which as per Croatian tradition, is celebrated until 3 Kings day on January 6th.

Merry Armenian Christmas and enjoy it with your friends and family.

Good Day,
It is wonderful to be in dialogue with you... It rejuvenates my critical thinking process and makes me think more...
I hope you noticed the distinction between "alone" and "lonely"... Alone does not imply lonely... I love to be alone, but I am never lonely for it... As the reference from Sartre insists, if one is bored while alone, then indeed there is a problem... Since it implies that the person does not know what to do with him/herself...
I am very glad that you like to be alone by yourself... I definitely comprehend it and absolutely share your sentiments on it... Each one of us need time and space by themselves... It will allow room for sorting things out and rearranging the matrix in us and above us...
As for Christmas... You misunderstood my thrust... I was not referring to materialistic celebrations... I hate them too... But rather, I was having fun with the idea of celebrating the spirit of Christmas year round... The spirit of PEACE and HARMONY among people... I am sure you will agree with this sentiment...
As being a "practicing Catholic" is Wonderful... I do not have any issues with that... Allow me to give a personal example... My daughter when she was younger, in her teens, she used to visit churches and sit there in quiet... meditate and enjoy the spiritual energy emanating from the icons and relics and painting... She loved the smell of the incense... She wanted to have no distractions from the crowd... She loved church services... But cherished the "alone" time, by herself during the week... She was spiritual and the Sunday crowd was a bit distracting... for her...
Armenian church in Jerusalem...

What I am attempting to convey is that attending Sunday services should not be the "practicing" qualifier... and I am sure you do not mean that...
Knowing you, when you were younger, I am sure you have scientific curiosity and an inquiring mind... and as such, the crowd should not define the enchanting Sunday mass at the church..., but I am very pleased that you attend services and practice your faith... That is wonderful...
I realize your concern about "empty" churches... I have been in pain since childhood about abandoned Armenian churches... When Turkey initiated the Armenian genocide the churches were abandoned... at times, set on fire... and at times, the Turkish soldiers herded the people into the church - women, children an old men, doused the church with gasoline and set the church on fire... Churches in the Middle East are empty and ruined because of the "Islamic State", while churches in the West are empty because of "materialistic enlightenment"... Spirituality has retreated and materialism has overwhelmed our Western Civilization and culture...
I realize your indignation against spiritual bankruptcy... which follows the cultural decadence and materialist values...
The church rite is beautiful... I love the chants and incense... I love the mysticism of the mass and adhere to calendar... But I also love the caroling before Christmas... If you remember, I initiated caroling at our school with my students... I love that too... Caroling does not contradict the Christmas date, the 25th or... Caroling heralds the beauty of 25th and ushers in Christmas in more majesty...
I love the church mysticism and traditions... I get a "high" when I listen to the mass and enchanted by the lit candles and the aroma of incense... and I also love the community celebrations... caroling and decorating the houses and Christmas trees...
After all, Christmas tree is not just for the 25th... It is set before and it stays there till the "Three Kings Day"...
Spirituality is not, and should not be tied with dates... Spirituality should be all year round and 24/7... We will not be void of the Christmas spirit after "Three Kings Day"... and we should not...
The spirituality and mysticism have always fascinated me... I visited churches for Sunday services... But I attended church during the week to stay in the quiet atmosphere and inhale the spirituality coming from centuries of incense and candles and tradition...
I love the church... by herself and for herself...

Dear friend,
I love your devotion and I admire your dedication...
Your "practicing Catholic" way is beautiful and wonderful... But also the person who does not "practice" the way you do is beautiful and wonderful as long as she/he upholds the spiritual sanctity of Christmas... That is, promotes PEACE and HARMONY among the people of our GLOBAL VILLAGE...
I indeed am enjoying your dialogue with me...
Say hi to ALL the world... Soon I will begin writing about a wonderful men, a friend a teacher... He always insisted that "People are allowed..." He was never judgmental... and he was the chaplain in our school... He never judged people and I loved him for that...
We will still talk... We definitely will continue our dialogue... and I salute you on this Christmas Day... and I will remember you on yet another Christmas Day...
You are great... You are dedicated... You are indeed another miracle of Christmas...
Say hi to all and keep in touch... After all this dialogue is invigorating my spirits and stimulating my intellect...

It's Christmas Again...

Note...
Hi,
I will resume the blog post…
Two people (former students) with their emails inquired about the blog and suggested that I resume to post…
So here it is… I dedicate the resumption to the two who were kind and encouraging…
I will try to make 3-4 Posts per week…

It's Christmas again...

My house during the day... My home, my castle...

...And my house after dark... My home, my joy...
***
I feel blessed today...
It is Armenian Christmas Eve... So I will celebrate Christmas again...
The Armenian Church service, the Divine Liturgy is an integral part of Armenian culture... It is essential to the Armenian psyche... It is the Armenian consciousness...
I love the Armenian liturgy, the Badarak, is beautiful and spiritually uplifting... I listen to it every Sunday morning... It is part of our family tradition... It initiates the day in a peaceful mood...
Tomorrow is Armenian Christmas Day... and it is Christmas Eve for Ukrainians and Russians...
I will celebrate Armenian Christmas and also Christmas Eve ... It is indeed a miracle to have Christmas Day and Christmas Eve... in the same day...
Miracles always happen... only if you are more humane and more observant...
December 25... January 6... January 7...
Christmas repeats itself... and I am happier for that... It gives me more time to reflect... more time to be joyful...
Indeed three days of PEACE promotion is not enough... Maybe Christmas should be celebrated year round... 365-12-7-24...
Maybe it should indeed be... Peace on Earth...
The Shia Muslims and Sunni Muslims are at each others throat... Iran and Saudi Arabia are fighting each other... in the name of religion...
The Christians did it before... The Catholics and Protestants fought each other... in the name of religion... The Irish conflict is still fresh... The Balkans are still rife with hate...
They say religion is for PEACE... indeed it is...
But organized religion is the usurpation of religious teachings - Christian, Islam, Hindi, Buddhist, Sikh, Confucianism... and the rest...
Organized religion has replaced "love thy neighbour..." with the love of money... Peace is replaced by war and greed...
Religion is for peace... But organized religion is evil... organized religion is power... and power corrupts...
I will celebrate Christmas again... on my own... in my home... and promote peace...
I am not sectarian... Catholic or Protestant, Shia or Sunni... Sikh or Hindi... Communist or Confucian...
I am not sectarian... I am human... and my humanity is globalized... includes ALL...
I imagine PEACE... let there be PEACE...
Indeed,
I will celebrate Christmas again today, and again tomorrow...
