Ross Burned HIS Papers... and the Hypocrisy of the Elders...

Ross read a lot... most of it was serious literature, but he did not dismiss junk tabloid papers too... He was full of quotations... and I am not sure how he kept all that in his mind and also where he got his quotations from... 
I am sure he did not make them up... he was not that type... he did nor want credit for anything... He was very content and satisfied... He was not in competition with anyone... We were talking about writers and writing and he just came out with a quote... he said; "First you write from the heart... The first draft is from the heart... and then your write with your mind... The second draft... corrects and reconnects the dots from the first draft..." It was nice and it stayed with me... I never asked and never researched the quote... But I realized why I avoid second and third drafts... Essentially I do not want to mix the "heart" and the "mind"... 
Ross wrote for himself... One day at his abode he indicated to metal crates at the bottom of his "library" with only few books... He did not believe in hoarding the bought books... He shared them with others and when he gave a book away said; "Please when you finish reading pas it to others... do not keep it..."
There were four crates... nicely arranged... I never the inside of those crates... but Ross told me that they will be full one day... I am not sure whether they were ever full... and I have no clue what happened to them... I assume his priest brother was instructed to burn them... and I assume he did... and with it I lost so much memories and knowledge... confined and hidden in those crates... 
I do not feel a loss in them... after all what are we doing with all the knowledge that we have... with all the books which have been written... with all the books that will still be written... Ross said that it's all a game... not for knowledge, but for profit... and he played the game well... he bought all the bestsellers and all prize winners... read them and passed them around...
Ross did not aspire to be a writer... being the chaplain at the school was good enough for him... He did not aspire to riches... being self sufficient was satisfying for him... So he did not write for profit... He did not believe in writing for profit... He wrote for himself... and as he said; "the first draft was from the heart..." he did not want to have a second and third draft...

While Europe is struggling to find a solution to the migrant crisis... While Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, and the Turkish president are trying to find ways to suppress democratic norms in Europe... While Europe is after appeasing and pleasing the ego of the Turkish president... While Angela Merkel gave the green light to investigate a German comic who has "offended" the Turkish president with his words in a comic show... 
The Pope visited Lesbos... Good for him...

Pope Francis traveled to the Greek island of Lesbos on Saturday to meet with migrants and refugees fleeing war and violence in the Middle East and North Africa -- and took 12 of the refugees back to the Vatican aboard the papal plane, the Holy See Press Office said. The Vatican will take responsibility for the three families, the statement said... All are from Syria...

 
The Pope visited Lesbos... and suddenly the Greek bishops realised that there is a migrant crisis... So they accompanied the Pope... Great...!!!  organized religion is becoming humanitarian...!!!

The Pope is correct... We have to be more accepting and more  tolerant... But my friend Ross, the chaplain in my last teaching post, new that long time ago... he admonished me when I overlooked the less fortunate... He reminded me that I am my brothers keeper... He hated dogmas... religious or political or humanitarian...
HE HATED ALL DOGMAS...

The Pope is right... But organized religion is ossified and Ross told me once that he did not know any acid combination to clean the centuries old ossification...

Wars Should be banned...

As far back as I can go in memory... I hated violence... Maybe I was scared... Maybe I was a chicken... But the truth is I hated violence...                                                       The legend says that I came home in the evenings and told my parents that I do not want to go to school... "They are picking on me... they are beating me..."                                                         I do not remember... but my mother told us these... and also that my father instructed my brother, a year younger than me; "Beat all those who attack your brother... Do not let them pick on him..."             Well, I guess that qualifies me as a chicken...                         But no matter what I hated violence... as far back as my memory can take me...                                                                 Recently... I completed a first draft of my memories... My childhood and adolescence and maturity... I sealed all of that and gave it to my elder daughter... She will do with it whatever she wants to do with it...                                                                         I did not write it for the preying public... I did not write it for the youth who are addicted to voyeurism...                                   I wrote it for me...                                                   They say the first draft of a writing comes from the heart...Well I stopped at the first draft...                                             I have lived through much violence... in schools as student and as teacher and as professor... I have lived violently not by the gun, but by the word... and loved it... people who could not tolerate the word resorted to physical violence... I hated that...!!!                         Once they threatened one of my dear friends...                         We were young, 22 and 23 years old, and my friend was an aspiring playwright... He wrote wonderfully and he mocked the ruling system brilliantly... So they did not like him... and one of our fascist student acquaintances on the campus... threatened him...                       My friend was scared and the fascist student was cocky...             We were at a football(soccer) game...in front of the stadium the fascist again confronted my friend... and true enough he let us see his pistol under his vest... My friend was scared shitless...I decided to act...                                                                 "Okay stop the bullshit... take your gun and shoot him..." I challenged... The fascist got confused... he knew the system was with him and nothing will be done to him... his father was an apparatchik sycophant... living from the people ... on the people... because of the people... But the fascist was not expecting a challenge to his game... He just crawled away... (John Oliver or the German comic would rather say... Wars cause death and destruction... But wars are profitable too...  Wars maim...injure...wound the humanity within us... But wars provide money for the war machine...

People, the "politically correct" liberals oppose gun violence and gun sales in North America... But these groups condone the gun violence caused by wars... They are against death penalty, but they support the war industry... they support wars...

The "Western democracies"... sell guns to Saudi Arabia... for profit.

Israel sells guns to Islamist-fascists in Azerbaijan... for material gains... Israel overlooks the fact that the Islamist-authoritarian rule in Azerbaijan represses its own people and also uses those weapons to wage war against the Christian Armenians... They want to eliminate Armenia from the map... and Turkey supports them in their "mission."

Russia sells arms to whomever pays the price... Iran, Syria... and Azerbaijan... and other "funny" regimes...

China sells arms to African countries... closes its eyes to the war mongering North Koreans...

War is profitable... Killing people, albeit in wars, pays big money... and big irony...the killers do not go to jail,they even are rewarded...

Ross, the chaplain at my last teaching post, and I were out for fun and dinner and drinks... After our happy hour drinks, we were walking to get our theater tickets and stumbled upon a demonstration... It was anti-war and against Western intervention in Iraq... 

Ross gets enthusiastic and excited very easily... the kid bubbles up in him and he wanted to join the demo...

So we walked along... for a block or two... with them...

We got our tickets and went for dinner somewhere close to the theater... After dinner Ross expounded on his theories of war and peace... he said:
"Now that the Soviet Union is gone... the West needs another evil culprit... and soon they will create one... The invasion of Iraq is the prelude to that... they need an evil group so as they will tell the people that those are the bad ones and so we are the good ones..."
He also explained his futuristic theory of wars to come... he said:
"The American economy is in trouble... The Western economies are on shaky grounds... China is overtaking them... India is emerging as an economic power... China and India have an unlimited supply of internal cheap labour available to them... The West and America cannot compete with them..."  
He took a long breath and drank few sips of his drink and continued... So the only competition free production for America are weapons... and in other to bolster the economy... they need o sell arms... and in order to sell arms they need wars..."
He stopped... I was listening to his passionate theorizing...
"So they need an evil... to they their people that they are bad and we are good... Also they need to sell arms..."
He stopped for a long while... and I did not interrupt the interlude... I just waited for him to continue... and he did not... he was in a space of his own... almost not their with me... After a long while... he said:
"That's why there will be more wars... Wars are profitable to Big Brother... and the smaller brothers are killed and maimed... That's why I will not visit America from now on... no matter what..." 
I knew that he visited Cape Cod with his Irish friends... every summer... But stopped crossing the border... and missed his friends and Cape Cod...too...

The Turkish president Erdogan holds leverage over Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor,  at the moment, and he knows it very well. The German chancellor used to chide the Turkish president over freedom of expression, stressing her opposition to Turkey's EU accession, but now there is a softer approach... since she needs him for the "migration crisis..." ........................................                                                                               Suddenly Turkey is essential to stopping the migration flow to Europe and Mrs Merkel is treading very carefully... After all freedom of speech and morals and principles and convictions are "commodities... which may be traded" in the Global Village that we live in...   And trade is for profit... Barter morality and principles for profit and the settling of the migrant crisis... ........................................................ Insulting the president or the country... happens so often that Turkish citizens have almost stopped raising eyebrows when a case of "insulting the president" is opened... After all, it happens frequently... in Turkey... Initially, when a former Miss Turkey, or Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk or the country's most famous cartoonist or a 13-year-old boy were accused of insulting Mr Erdogan, there was shock among the peple and in the ranks of the political opposition... But now, with almost 2,000 such cases opened and journalists and reporters jailed, there is little surprise left - even when the target is a German citizen...

A woman in Ohio has been charged with live streaming the rape of a friend. 

Police say Marina Alexeevna Lonina used Periscope to webcast while a guy, Raymond Boyd Gates, raped her friend. Lonin will be arraigned later today. It's another headache for Twitter, which owns Periscope and has had issues with online harassment in the past.

Why will anyone, let alone a friend, live stream the rape of a friend...                               Rape is inhumane to start with... It is the aggression of males having their penis as the lethal weapon...                
But live streaming is a new, maybe technological dimension of inhumanity...
Should we censor it... Maybe we should... But I will suggest to educate the youth instead of censoring anything...

Censorship is evil... 
It is sad that Europe is giving way to the Turkish balckmail and Islamic fascism...  Below is indeed  A Comedy of Errors... and Skakespear would have had fun with this...

Comedian Jan Bohmermann has been placed under police protection following a live show in which he read out a “slander poem” criticising Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Jan Bohmermann, Germany's equivalent to Last Week Tonight's John Oliver, read out the poem on his weekly satirical show Neo Magazin Royale on German public broadcaster ZDF on March 31. It was directed at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and, in a cadence similar to a children's nursery rhyme, Bohmermann called the Turkish leader, among many other things, “a goat fucker” who “kicks Kurds and slaps Christians while watching kiddie porn.” Bohmermann titled the poem Schmahkritik, an legal term that roughly translates to “slander” or “defamation.” The poem was a show of solidarity with another German comedy show (NDR'sextra3) that, on March 17, had mocked Erdogan with song that pointed out human rights abuses in Turkey.  In response, Ankara summoned the German ambassador to explain why the show aired the song and reportedly called for the offending video to be removed from the Internet.

"If we are afraid of books expressing opposing views, then we are aware of our inability... to educate our youth... If we want to ban books and the written word... if we want to ban art... then we are acknowledging our failure to educate the people and also we admit the deficiencies in our points of view..." This is what Ross, my chaplain-friend told me... 
If our opinion is valid, then we should be able to convince people that ii is logical and reasonable...that it is correct... Only when we are unable to convince others of our points of view...ONLY then we resort to censorship... which is the essential first step to violence...
So it happened...
A German comic... satirized the Turkish President, Erdogan...in very vulgar terminology... The Turkish President took offence... In Turkey Erdogan is used to raid the offices of newspapers, he is used to jailing reporters and writers... for publishing news that he does not like... he is used to closing down newspapers... In Turkey if things do not go in government's favour... then they just take down Facebook or Twitter or other electronic social outlet... The social media is at government's mercy... Just like in China or in any other authoritarian dictatorship...

Jan Boehmermann... is a German comic...just like John Oliver in North America...I do not like John Oliver... His use of "fuck...fuck...fuck..." as if to punctuate his "comic" lines...does not appeal to me... My wife and daughter like his monologue...They want to listen to his "funny" news... I cannot tolerate it... So usually I resort to some other activity... usually go to my laptop and read something else...listen to music... or whatever... I do not like John Oliver's presentation... and language... so I do not listen to him... It never crosses my mind to apply to someone in authority so as to censor him... In my opinion he is free to talk-present... and I am free not to listen... and that's the end of the question... When I was in the university... there were a mandatory courses that each student had to study... In general these were "propaganda, brainwashing courses..." and I hated them... so I registered to them... did not listen to any instruction... These lecture times were for my other homework... I did my homework for other courses... maths and sciences... and I barely passed the "propaganda courses"... I never said they should be censored... They had the power to present it... dictate that I learn them... I had the right to register to them and not learn and listen to the bullshit...

They were right, after all they had the power... and I was right, since I had my will power to refuse...

I got into difficulties.. but I was okay with it... I could survive the hardship...

So back to the Turkish President... Erdogan...                   .................................................................................

German public broadcaster ZDF said it had removed a satirical poem about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from its website, prompting accusations German authorities had buckled under pressure from Ankara.  The Turkish president not only censors writers-reporters-newspapers-and books in Turkey... He not only jails people when they express opinions that he does not agree with... he also wants to dictate his rule in Europe and Germany too... This President has even taken Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk to Turkish courts... for his writings... He was accused of anti-turkishness... offending the motherland... The poem which contains sexual innuendos was recited by presenter Jan Boehmermann on weekly satirical show ZDFneo and accuses Erdogan of repressing minorities including Kurds.

The German comic is a funny asshole... and he is not shying from it... After all, exposing your ass is not funny, of course according to me... 
It puzzles me why a sane person will be offended from an ass-exposing comic... why a sane person will cry foul on the words of an asshole beats me...!!!

I will just dismiss it and that will be the end of it...!!!

If Erdogan, the Turkish president, is offended by an asshole comic... then it says more about him than the comic...If the Turkish president wants to silence this ass... then he should ignore it... If the German government and Angela Merkel side with the Turkish President... If Angela Merkel appeases the Trukish regime... then that censorship will become a slippery slope... and suffocate European democracy... and that's exactly what the Islamic fascists want... A Europe in the image of the Islamic Jihadists...

Böhmermann: So, Erdogan would need to take a lawyer!? I'll say Dr. is a great lawyer. 

Kabelka: Yes, he's the lawyer of the mayor of Berlin and others...

Böhmermann: Mr. Erdogan, visit this lawyer, tell him you've watched something you don't like: "abusive criticism". Then you'd visit a court. Get a restraining order there. Then we'd have a legal case. Does that become clear to you? I really enjoyed, as a citizen of Germany, now after months of disputes and arguments, we finally had a consensus again. When its' about despots, when it comes to politicians, who go against freedom, like only despots do: Erdogan, Victor Orban, Beata Shit-lo, Beata Shit-lo from the Piss-Party, the Prime Minister of great neighboring country Poland, Marine LePen from the [acts like vomiting] Front National, Pim Fortuyn in the Netherlands [most likely confused him with Geert Wilders], HC Strache from the FPÖ. They're all authoritarian, nationalistic wannabe despots. Also Frauke Petry, here, of course. All these are people, who more people should go against. Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump. I really appreciate we resist these guys self-confidently. Who cuts the rights of other people, needs to get his own rights cut...

Last week, Merkel has told the Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, on the phone... that she thought the poem was “deliberately offensive.” 

Subsequently, ZDF has pulled the video off its website, announcing that it “didn’t live up to the requirements that ZDF makes for the quality of satire programs.” 

... and taking to Facebook, Bohmermann has said... 
 “We've found the limit for satire in Germany. Finally!”
I guess it has taken a Turkish despot to show that "limit"... 
It is sad, but it is true...

My chaplain-friend, Ross and I were at a seminar... We did not appreciate the presentation... and with our eyes we agreed to skip as the intermission... so we left the hall... and went for a drink... next day I was reprimanded by our principal... 

I am against censorship... But I always will use my free will to evade stupidity... 

I guess some have will-power and others, like Erdogan, the Turkish President, have the army to jail and silence people... It is sad that despots like Erdogan and other Islamic fascists are taking down Europe with them...

But the final world will again be to the pen... and the pen will triumph over the sword...

Why will anyone want to ban books is beyond me... If anyone thinks that their kids will be misguided by reading ANY book, then they are admitting that they cannot educate their kids not to believe anything that they read... If we cannot infuse critical thinking in our younger generation... then we are doomed...
Let them read... Let them argue... and let them come to a conclusion... Banning books means advocating ignorance... and those parents who advocate ignorance... must be reeducated... 
If banning the Bible will achieve anything... then the Islamic Jihadists would have been the most enlightened people on the earth...
